Glubble Parents

Where Families Play

I've been frustrated at the lack of parental control with YouTube. Once the site is approved, kids can view any content without restriction. Without mentioning the names of the competition ;-), there's another Firefox add-on out there that has pre-approved YouTube videos that are child-appropriate (in addition to either allowing or blocking the entire site). I am considering switching simply for this singular ability. My 10 y.o. loves YouTube and there are lots of things on there I'd like her to have access to. Any suggestions?

Hi Lisa,

I assume you are referring to Kidzui? I think Kidzui is a great product. It's well designed and comes with lots of content, including video.

To me Kidzui serves a different purpose. Their content is chosen by unnamed 'experts', which is a great way to quickly get kids content. Glubble's main focus is to put you (the parent in control). We feel you are the expert of your own child. There isn't a common agreement about what is good for a child or not. It depends on so many factors (culture, religion, personal preferences), and the only one that can make such an assesment is the parent.

As a parent, you have control over what you would like your children to be able to see on Youtube with Glubble.

Let's say you would like your children to have access to the sesame street channel on Youtube. Here is how you do that.

1. Visit the Sesame street channel on youtube at: http://www.youtube.com/user/sesamestreet?blend=1&ob=4

2. Press the "add-site" button in your Firefox URL bar (it ooks like a green doll with a + sign on it). A dialogue appears and you can now add the site to your child's "My Collection".

3. From now on your child can visit and watch the best of sesame street without being able to see other video's on YouTube. He can go to his "My Collection" tab and find the Sesame street channel there!

Hope this helps. we will add some default collections for you in the near future, but this will let you build up your own video library quickly!

Best regards,

Alexander
