Glubble Parents

Where Families Play

Feedback please: (How) do you use the unlock feature in the Kids Browser?

We would like some feedback on the unlock feature in the Glubble Kids browser.

Do you let your child use the Glubble Kids browser from your computer, or do they have their own computer? Does that mean that you use the unlock feature to go back to your own Firefox browser? How often do you do that? Do you think that step should be password protected?

If you do not use the unlock feature, do you have the preference on that starts Glubble in child mode every time?

Let us know your experiences in the comments below. It will help us further improve the service.

My children use a different computer. They start in child mode every time.

Hi Lisa,

thanks for your response. Does that mean you never really need the unlock feature? In other words, you use a different computer yourself?

Best regards,

Alexander

I still use the unlock feature because I use my computer to go into their accounts to edit or add to their favorites bar. I will also occasionally unlock their computer if they are researching something specific and I can't be there to approve every site they look at (which I realize defeats the purpose of Glubble but is sometimes a necessity!).

Hi Lisa,

Glubble doesn't decide how this should work, you do! So there is no 'defeating a purpose' :-) . Having said that, it may be interesting to know how we can assist you in this case. Is the remote permission request feature not the answer there (it will notify you on your own computer if a child wants to access a site)? Are there other practices thinkable?

Thanks for providing us the feedback, really appreciate it! It will help us improve our service.

Best regards,

Alexander

The remote permission request is fine. I just occasionally come across a site or get a memo from school about something they recommend and want to go in and add it. My kids are elementary-school aged so they aren't requesting things on their own, except what's in the collection (a lot of which I deny!). My only complaint is that there's no way to notify the kids that I've added something and the thumbnail in their favorites bar is too small and has no label so they have no idea it's there.

Lisa,

I understand. Thank you for your feedback. We are already looking into a notification scheme for kids, and a way to improve the current design (including favorites)
