Glubble Parents

Where Families Play

Drew

Am I doing this right? No password asked when switching people?

I'm testing out Glubble before bringing it up to the attention of the rest of the family. I started out making the kids and I can easily switch to their account.

Afterward, I can just as easily switch back to MY account!

Isn't it supposed to ask for the Family password when you switch back?

Or is there another way kids are supposed to log into the system?

Hi Drew,

yes, it is supposed to ask you for a family password to ensure safety.

In order to switch back and forth to Child mode (password protected) you need:
1) Have both Javascript and 3rd party cookies enabled in Firefox (let me know if you need help with this)
2) installed the latest version of our Glubble extension for Firefox (current version is v2.0.4.5)

Could you retry that and if it still doesn't work, or if you need help with these settings, let me know.

Best regards,

Alexander

Thank you for your quick response.

Alright, I downloaded the Add-on.

When I click "Go to my Family Page" it sends me to the sign-up screen (though I've already created a page). Does this need to be re-pointed to the existing account/page?

The "Switch to Child Mode" button is not enabled (grayed out)

Installing this has done nothing for the switching back-and-forth between users.

Thanks,
Drew

If you see the registration page there is a link called "already a member". click that, it will take you to the login page. You need to login once, and then it should work.

Later on you can set preferences to always start in child mode, or always open the family page at startup.

Let me know if this works.

Alexander

Yeah, I clicked the "Already a member? Login here!" link and log in. While looking at the family page, if I click the button it redirects me to the registration page (http://family.glubble.com/registration).

I'll have to fool around with the other settings when I'm home and freer to try out these options.

It could also be conflicting with having multiple tabs open? I'll test that out when I get a chance.

Drew,

I'll check with my development team too. Normally, after installation, logging in is enough to synchronize the new software with our servers. In your case, it sounds like this synchronization is not taking place.

My screen is supposed to be different "browser" when it's in kids mode? It never changes to that, which may explain why I can move in-and-out of modes.

I tried setting it as "Start in child mode" and open "Family page" and restarted Firefox. Nothing new to report there, but I found the Error log file and below is the current contents of it.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------+
2009-06-03 12:33:03 ERROR Glax.GLU.AuthenticationService logIn: User DTO is null.

2009-06-03 14:44:33 ERROR Glax.GLU.AuthenticationService logIn: User DTO is null.

Don't know if it will help or not.

I'm not sure if this is where I should write this but I am having the same problem
- no password requested when switching from child to parent.
I have 3rd party cookies and javascript enabled in Firefox.
Just found this software today so must have downloaded the latest version.
Was about to give up when I saw this question and wondered if it is fixable.

Also; does the adult have to set the child up with the Glubble child page, and then trust that they don't use other internet sites? Or will it and Firefox prevent access to non-Glubble sites until the Family password is entered?

Thanks for your help, I'd really like this to work because I just discovered that my son had been watching an inappropriate video when I thought he was playing approved games with our neighbor's kid. I guess I need to talk to the neighbor too!

Hi CL,

Child mode looks entirely different from normal Firefox. It locks down Firefox and only let's your child visit sites you approve. If a child tries to visit another site, Glubble will ask him to enter the Family password. So your child is perfectly safe when in child mode.

I do not know why you are not able to go to child mode. Could you try the following trikc to see if that resolves your issue?

-------

In order to upgrade (in case you are using and older version), please follow these steps:

1. Close your Firefox browser.

2. Locate your Firefox's profile:

* On Windows XP/2000:
o The path is C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\.

o Note for Windows XP/2000: The Application Data folder is a hidden folder. To show hidden folders, open the Windows Explorer (the application that allows you to browse your files in your computer) and choose "Tools -> Folder Options -> View (tab) -> Show hidden files and folders".

* On Windows Vista:
o The path is C:\users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default

o Note for Windows Vista: The AppData folder is a hidden folder. To show hidden folders, open Windows Explorer (the application that allows you to browse your files in your computer) and choose "Organize -> Folder and Search Options -> Folder Options -> View (tab) -> Show hidden files and folders"

* On Linux, the path is ~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/

* On Mac OS X, the path is ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxxx.default

* Note: xxxxxxxx is a random string of 8 characters (e.g. irxsh9wu)

3. Remove the folder named "Glaxstar" and the file named "cookies.sqlite".

4. Start Firefox. You will need to log in to the Family home page again, using your Family Address, your Family Password and you email address.

Try to switch to your child's profile. You should now be taken to child mode.
